Ancient Japanese shrine — the origin of the Misogi ritual

Our origin

Born from an ancient ritual of purification

In ancient Japan, Misogi was a sacred practice of cleansing the body and spirit through immersion in natural water. We carry that principle into modern recovery. 禊 心身の浄化、光こそが新たな水

2007 Age Group World Championship Triathlete

Jeremy is an accomplished entrepreneur with deep ties to leading UK commercial organisations. A competitive rugby player, cyclist, and 2007 World Championship Triathlete, Jeremy was introduced to the power of Red Light Therapy first hand. After suffering a severe, debilitating knee injury, RLT was critical in fast-tracking his rehabilitation, allowing him to bypass standard recovery timelines. This catalytic recovery inspired him to build Misogi Health to share clinical RLT with the world. Just completed Club Des Cingles du Mount ventoux...those who know know -:)

Physical proof from champions

Endorsed by Olympic medallists, age group champions, and everyday athletes

Our network of Olympic Medallists and World Champion athletes rely on Misogi dual-wave therapy to fast-track tissue repair, combat systemic inflammation, and maximise sleep quality — and it is not only for them, but anyone who has aches and pains.

Graham Bell — Five-time Olympian & Downhill Skier
"Downhill racing punishes the joints at 80 miles an hour—if you can't recover as hard as you charge the mountain, you're off the pace. Wrapping up in the Misogi shoulder wrap after a brutal day on the ice flushes out the stiffness and resets the frame, so you're locked in and ready to attack the gates again tomorrow. Might be older but still try just as hard to punish myself -:)"

The name behind the brand

What is Misogi?

Misogi (禊) is a Shinto purification ritual practised for thousands of years in Japan. Practitioners would immerse themselves in rivers, waterfalls, or the sea — not simply to cleanse the body, but to wash away spiritual impurity and restore vitality at a cellular level.

We chose this name because it captures exactly what red and near-infrared light therapy does for the modern body. In a world of chronic stress, sedentary work, and environmental toxins, our cells are depleted. Misogi Health exists to help restore them.

Every device we design is built around one question: how do we make the most effective recovery technology feel like a natural, sustainable ritual — not a clinical procedure?

Why we exist

Recovery should be a ritual, not a chore

We believe the best recovery tool is the one you actually use. That is why every Misogi device is engineered for comfort, simplicity, and consistency — so that red light therapy becomes a natural part of your daily life, not an occasional treatment.

Misogi Health red light therapy treatment room

Efficacy first

We use only clinically validated wavelengths — 630nm, 660nm, 810nm, 850nm, and 1064nm — at therapeutic irradiance levels. No decorative LEDs. No compromised output.

Designed for real life

Wearable wraps, full-body blankets, and facial masks that fit around your schedule — at your desk, on the sofa, or post-workout.

Transparent science

We cite the research behind every claim. Our product guidance is built on peer-reviewed photobiomodulation studies, not marketing language.

Long-term partnership

A 30-day trial and 1 year warranty are not just policies — they are a commitment that we stand behind every device we ship.

Mitochondrial cellular energy — the science behind red light therapy

The mechanism

How red light works at a cellular level

Misogi devices utilize synchronized dual-wavelength technology, delivering 660nm (visible red) and 850nm (near-infrared) light simultaneously. While 660nm red light targets the skin's surface layers to enhance cellular rejuvenation and collagen production, 850nm near-infrared light penetrates deep into underlying tissue (2–7 cm)—reaching muscles, joints, and connective tissue to reduce inflammation and accelerate recovery. How Red & Near-Infrared Light Works at the Cellular Level The biological process is called Photobiomodulation (PBM). Rather than relying on heat or tissue damage, red and near-infrared light act as a form of non-invasive photonic energy that cells convert directly into biological fuel.
